"Corridor D (US 50) Bridge"
The Presentation will outline the WVDOH's design of the 4000' Corridor D (US 50) Bridge over the Ohio River and Blennerhassett Island. The selection of the roadway alignment and structure type, including the influences of the historic island, the public involvement process, innovative design features, and new QA/QC construction procedures will be discussed. Innovative design concepts used on the structure include high capacity drilled shafts, inclined stays used on the networked tied arch span, liberal use of high performance materials (concrete and steel), and the state's first FRP inspection walkway.
